Nike’s classic Air Presto has made a surprising comeback in the past year, slowly returning to the Swoosh’s active lineup for the first time since 2016. This week, we have an early look at an interesting new “Aquamarine” pair that is popping up on release calendars.
The Nike Air Presto is making a comeback in 2021, after slowly returning last year in the form of several highly sought-after retro colorways. Now, the Swoosh has spent the first quarter of 2021 rolling out new colorways, from simple “Essentials” style single colors to brilliant gradient pairs like last week’s “Sunset” release. Today, we have an early look at the Air Presto in an upcoming “Aquamarine” color scheme, which adds some interesting new details to the vintage running shoe. First, the Presto’s bootie-like upper features an all-over geometric pattern in blocky, 8-bit like style. The Presto’s signature TPU cage comes in the namesake “Aquamarine” color, while lime glow Swooshes adorn the midsoles. The tongue is where things get interesting, featuring an inverted Swoosh with a jagged, lightning-bolt-like cut through it. The tongues also feature a “20/21” mark at the top, possibly alluding to 2020 and 2021 being the 20th and 21st anniversaries of the storied sneaker.
