The Nike Air Max 97 will be honoring M. Frank Rudy, the pioneer who changed Nike footwear and the sneaker industry with the revolution of Air technology.
Marion Franklin Rudy came across Air technology which Nike revealed all the way back in 1978 with the release of the Air Tailwind and later in 1980 the tech was patented. Still never close to replication, Air technology is one of the best in the game and Nike’s Air Max 97 celebrates the vision and the man behind the tech, M. Frank Rudy.
Set for an official colorway of Summit White, Black, and Safety Orange, the upper arrives with a base of white mesh and light grey suede overlays while orange, yellow, and blue are used throughout the overlay system. Scribbled gelled Nike Swoosh logos are added to the sides while a white midsole, clear Air unit, and EST. 1997 branding is added to commemorate the beginning of the AM97. To finish the design, an air pressure hang tag accents the shoe.
