Nike and JD Sports are going apple picking this season, with a newly rehashed run of their “Green Apple” Air Max 95. Originally released in 2010, the updated pairs feature the 95’s OG Big Bubble cushioning, coming soon.
The thirty-year anniversary celebration for Nike’s Air Max 95 has been going for over a year now, thanks to dozens of new and retro colorways from Nike in the past fifteen months. One of their most iconic running shoes from the ’90s, the celebration is well deserved, and the Swoosh gave the AM95 the same “Big Bubble” treatment as the AM1 had in 2023. This involved reengineering the size of the Air cushioning embedded in the soles, enlarging the heel air bag to reflect the original designs from 1995, before they had to be downsizes due to being structurally unsound.
Nike has outfitted dozens of iconic and new colorways with the updated Air bags, with plenty more still on the way in 2026. Over the weekend, a special pair from 2010 resurfaced, now in an updates form. The “Green Apple” release originally arrived in 2010, as an exclusive color scheme for JD Sports. The shoe’s fresh take on the iconic “Neon” color blocking became a cult classic, and hasn’t been released again in the last sixteen years. Now, the gradient look with colorful “Photo Blue” and “Action Green” accents is back this season.
