Last Spring, Nike introduced a somewhat new version of their Air Max 1. This pair restored the shoe’s original larger Air bubble, recreating the original 1986 design. This Fall, the model returns with new colors, like this month’s “Cosmic Clay” pair.
Nike has kept their 1986 version of the Air Max 1 in steady rotation since introducing the model for 2023’s Air Max Day celebration. The shoe restores the original Tinker Hatfield design with the big bubble, before the was changed for better durability. Each passing season has brought us a small batch of new styles, like this “Cosmic Clay” pair that kicks off Fall 2024.
The Air Max 1’s original color blocking is iconic, and Nike stays true to the shoe’s roots by offering plenty of variations on the white-grey-accent color palette. This month, they are set to release a new “Cosmic Clay” version of that color blocking, which adds a rusty orange shade to the mudguards, Swooshes, and Nike branding.
