Patent leather Air Force 1s are coming back. Recent releases from Lil Yachty and Lebron James have highlighted this early 2000s classic, and today, Nike has updated their SNKRS release calendar with new styles, including this “Mystic Navy” edition.
Patent leather on the Air Force 1 has a story as rich as the shoe itself. The glossy material became prominent in the early 2000s, when Nike began experimenting with shiny finishes to give the classic silhouette a fresh, fashion-forward edge, with the 2002 “Easter” and “Luxe” releases helping to kick things off. The mid-2000s brought a wave of bold, candy-colored patent releases that became some of the most memorable Air Force 1s ever made. This season, Nike is leaning into that early wave of patent-clad AF1 with a new three-pack of colors, including this gorgeous and subtle “Mystic Navy” look. The pair sports a glossy dark blue upper with rich purple accents for the Swooshes and heels, adding a lime green accent for lacing and a transparent green outsole.

Nike’s new batch of patent leather-covered Air Force 1s have been scheduled to release next month, on April 9th, 2026. Joining two other styles in yellow and red, this “Mystic Navy” edition is paired with a purple Swoosh accent and Liquid Lime laces. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $120.
