The Nike Safari print is one of their most beloved patterns by sneakerheads, with iconic pairs like the Dunk selling out every time they hit shelves. This year, the Swoosh is giving their Air Force 1 the exotic treatment, wrapping two pairs of the shoe in the print pattern and dressing them in “Phantom” and “Oil Green” colorways.
Nike first introduced their iconic Safari print in 1987, on the Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Safari runner. The pattern was inspired by an ostrich leather couch at a furniture store in New York City, and helped make the new running shoe from the legendary designer pop. The pattern has been used on hundreds of releases ever since, most notably through special collaborations with atmos. This week, Nike unveiled some new releases featuring the pattern applied to two colorways of the Dunk Low, in “Phantom” white and “Oil” green tonal looks. Now, a matching set of Air Force 1’s has surfaced, coming later this year. Unlike their Dunk counterparts, these styles of the Air Force 1 have gone with an all-over look with their use of the Safari print. While the Dunk styles both feature white leather bases, the AF1s only non-printed layers come in the form of the Swooshes, with matching tongue branding. White soles are underneath both styles, while tonal lace jewels at the forefoot complete each pair.
NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW “SAFARI” PACK RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s release of their “Safari” pack for the Air Force 1 has not been announced yet, but is expected to release sometime later in 2024. Arriving alongside their Dunk Low counterparts, pairs of the AF1 will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers, with an estimated price tag of $130.
