LaMelo Ball is currently on his fourth signature basketball shoe with PUMA, but is starting down a lifestyle path this Summer. Next month, the two will debut the LaFrance RNR, a new casual shoe with a seriously high fashion aesthetic.
Over the last few years, PUMA has reentered the arena of basketball footwear. Their initial offerings included a modern-day interpretation of their iconic Clyde sneaker, but have since expanded dramatically to include a range of brand new styles, as well as some athlete signature shoes. Since 2020, they have been working with LaMelo Ball to produce the young star’s very own sneakers, now on their fourth iteration, and are gearing up to launch Tyrese Haliburton’s Hali 1, designed in partnership with Salehe Bembury.
This season, PUMA and LaMelo Ball are ready to release their next lifestyle sneaker, another entry in the LaFrance line of off-court stylings. Subtitled the RNR, the new model appears to take cues from fashion styles, evoking some comparisons to Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga designs. The new model features a chunky midsole with bulbous sections and small cutouts, while the upper is constructed from mesh underlay with leather and molded plastic panels. The plastic pieces spell out LaFrance near the shoe’s lacing system, which uses thick rope laces for a unique look. The RNR’s debut style will be a “Flare” color scheme, which pits the shoe largely in a neutral tan shade, hiding a heat map-inspired gradient of orange, yellow, and blue shades underneath.

The latest signature sneaker for LaMelo Ball from PUMA is scheduled to debut next month, on August 1st, 2025. Dubbed the LaFrance RNR, the new model leans into high fashion stylings, featuring a chunky sole, unique paneling layout, and extra thick rope laces. Pairs will be available through the PUMA website for $120.
