Jaden Smith’s custom pair of New Balance 990v5 caught the sneaker world by surprise a few years ago when he merged it with the LV’s Arch Runner midsole. Now, the Syre artist is officially teaming up with the Boston brand, debuting the new Vision Racer this Summer.
The partnership between Jaden Smith and New Balance is finally coming to fruition. Nearly a year after the two announced their partnership, Jaden and team have taken to social media to debut his first signature sneaker with the Boston-based footwear brand, the Vision Racer. The silhouette itself is pretty out there, mixing a slightly modified X-Racer upper with an oversized, segmented midsole, its clear to see where Jaden’s inspiration comes from: his own custom footwear. Back in August 2018, almost another year before inking his New Balance contract, Jaden Smith debuted a wild custom pair of sneakers at the Skate Kitchen premiere in New York. The singer had fused two brands into one, mounting the classic New Balance 1700 on top of Louis Vuitton’s Archlight Runner midsole. The mix of classic, layered NB upper’s with an oversized sole appears to have carried over to the Vision Racer, which arrives in stores this Summer decked out in baby blue tones.

The new creation from Jaden Smith and New Balance, titled the Vision Racer, has not yet been announced for release, though we expect them to debut sometime during Summer 2020. The chunky Vision Racer will likely be available from both New Balance and select retailers, with a price tag somewhere in the $140+ range.
