Lagos’ HOMECOMING Festival gets bigger every year, and in 2026 Nike is showing their support with a special release. Working with the people behind the cultural event, they’ve created two outstanding styles of the Air Max Plus, releasing in April.
The Homecoming Festival is an annual music, fashion, art, sport, and culture festival held in Lagos, Nigeria, usually over Easter weekend. It was founded in 2017 by Grace Ladoja to create a space that celebrates African creativity and connects the African diaspora with the continent’s cultural energy. Over the years it has grown from an intimate gathering into a major cultural event featuring concerts, fashion pop-ups, workshops, panel talks, football competitions, and retail activations with both local and international brands like AMBUSH, Patta, and Stüssy, and Nike.
This year, Nike is showing up in force with a special project exclusively for the festival goers. This release debuts a new modified version of the Air Max Plus, featuring a new set of materials and construction, available in two colorways. The pair both feature a reworked upper, replacing the usual textiles with a web-like mesh, and separating the plastic cage system to be free-standing, though the piece has been modified so each strand connects over the top of the shoe like a strap. Both pairs also come with a rubber-dipped toe, tonally matched to the rest of the shoe. The first color scheme comes in black with red and green accents, while the second comes in Safety Orange with the same accent shades.

The upcoming release from Nike for Lagos’ Homecoming Festival has not been announced yet, but the shoes will likely drop on site during the festival’s April 2nd to 6th span. Featuring a modified Air Max Plus in two colorways, pairs will likely be available exclusively through the festival, though release plans have not been announced yet. Pricing is expected to be set at $190.
