Asics’ Japanese roots have been the inspiration for plenty of their releases over the years, and 2020 is no different. This week, the brand teased their latest colorways of the GEL-Lyte III, inspired by the Japanese term for “making of things”, or Monozukuri.
The Asics GEL-Lyte III is going big in 2020. With projects from the likes of Sean Wotherspoon and COMME des GARÇON well on the way, the Japanese athletic brand has introduced a new two-pack of exciting colorways to accompany them. Titled the “Monozukuri” pack, the two-piece collection pays homage to Japanese craftsmanship and innovation through premium materials and construction. Monozukuri, which roughly translates to “making of things” is reflected through the GEL-Lyte III’s hand-stitched detailing on the heel counters as well as hand-cut patterns. The first colorway in the pack features a tonal white design, featuring varying shades of off-white and cream for the suede and leather overlays, while the second comes in tones of blue, the lightest making up the base layer and progressively getting darker as they stack up.

Asics’ latest colorways of the fan-favorite GEL-Lyte III have been scheduled to release later this month, on April 17th, 2020. Offered in tonal “Ivory” and “Smoke Blue” colorways, the Monozukuri pack will be avialable from both Asics and select retailers for approximately $140.
