Jordan Brand has a ton of retro heat coming back this year, reviving some of the most iconic colorways from the past twenty years. This week, news of the 2011 Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo”, along with in-hand images, has surfaced, coming soon.
In 2011, Jordan Brand opened a new flagship store in Tokyo, Japan, dubbed Jordan Tokyo 23. To celebrate the occasion, the Jumpman released an extremely rare, and very limited edition of the Air Jordan 5 exclusively at the store’s grand opening. The shoe has gone on to become a Holy Grail in the sneaker world, due to its limited nature, special branding details, and the golden yellow shade that was a rare color to find on Jordan shoes in that era.
This year, Jordan Brand is finally bringing the Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo” to the masses. Over the weekend, in-hand images of a new version surfaced online, with a full slate of information including color and style codes, updated pricing, and a release date in September. The retro release will likely be available globally, both from Nike and their retail partners. The look features a stunning yellow shade across a smooth suede upper, adding grey accents for the tongues, eyestays, and plastic mesh panels, with black accents to complete the look.
