The Air Jordan 40 is continuing its special series of homage styles this year, with more mashups of past Jordan classics. After debuting in a PE edition in November, the Air Jordan 4028 will release to the public soon in a striking black & volt color scheme.
The Air Jordan 40 immediately became one of our favorite mainline Jays in a while when it debuted last Summer. Then, the homage series started mashing up the shoe with other classic Jordans, bringing past icons back to life through special colorways and the addition of specific features to the AJ40 to mimic these older looks. The first iteration of this project was the AJ401, though we didn’t know it at the time, followed by the 4016, 4014 “Ferrari“, and 4023 over the past few months. In November, Paolo Banchero was spotted on court wearing the 4028, a mashup of the 40 with the zippered shroud of the 2013 Air Jordan 28. His pair was a special PE colorway, but now the 4028 is gearing up to release to the public this season. The hybrid model will come in the 28’s original debut colorway, featuring the shroud and patent leather toe in black, which reveal a bold Volt green tongue and inner workings when unzipped.
