Jordan Brand has a long history of celebrating Mike’s Alma Mater, UNC, through special colorways and limited releases. This year, the Air Jordan 11 Low in “University Blue” is making a return, arriving in Spring after a nine-year hiatus.
Jordan Brand’s “University Blue” colorway has become a recurring theme rooted in Michael Jordan’s college years at the University of North Carolina, where the light blue palette reflects the school’s iconic hues. The first release of the color scheme featured a “Dark Powder Blue” color scheme for the Air Jordan 1, part of the model’s debut lineup back in 1985. Since then, the light blue shade has appeared on nearly every Jumpman silhouette, but a handful of these models have gone on to become iconic in the Jordan catalog.
One of the more memorable “University Blue” styles featured the Air Jordan 11’s low-top variant, originally released in 2001 under the name “Columbia”. The pair quickly became a holy grail in the sneaker world, and did not get a retro release until 2017, sixteen years after its debut. Now, nine years after that release, the “UNC” Air Jordan 11 Low is coming back. Currently expected to arrive in April, the pair has leaked early this week, showing off the fan-favorite white & blue color scheme.

The rerelease of Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 11 Low in the “UNC” theme has not been announced yet, but is currently rumored to release on April 18th, 2025. Arriving just in time for sunny Spring & Summer months, the white and University Blue look returns nearly ten years after its last release. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $195.
