adidas’ various running franchises have made massive strides in recent years, thanks to the introduction and subsequent innovation with Boost cushioning. This week, the SolarBoost 3 builds on those same innovations, introducing us to a new era of Boost.
adidas’ signature Boost technology has evolved greatly since its introduction in 2013 with the Energy Boost. Now a beloved cushioning among fans and sneakerheads, Boost can be found on a massive portion of the Three Stripes offerings, providing cushioning and comfort in categories across the board, from lifestyle collaborations to performance basketball shoes. However, Boost was originally intended to be used as a running cushioning and continues to shine in this category as the adidas Running team continues to innovate with the energy beads. This week, the third generation of the SolarBoost made its debut, giving us an early look at the direction Boost is headed for 2021. Featuring an engineered mesh upper for maximum flexibility and breathability, the SolarBoost 3 is mounted on top of a two-piece midsole, the lower portion consisting of Boost and the top half is made from standard EVA rubbers, molded into adidas’ new Linear Energy Push and Energy Rail technologies, which provide added stability and increase propulsion when paired with the soft, high-energy returning Boost. The SolarBoost 3 made its debut in an eye-catching Football Blue color scheme, with metallic silver elements and hints of Solar Orange to complete the look.

adidas Running’s first release of the new year, the debut of the SolarBoost 3, launched earlier today via the Three Stripes official website and is readily available in all sizes. The newly re-engineered version of the fan-favorite running shoe comes with a price tag of just $160, with more colorways and variations likely launching throughout the new year.
