adidas introduced the Response CL model a few years ago, taking inspiration from some of their archival runners for a new look. This season, the model is getting a trail-ready upgrade, kicking off with a Cordura nylon pack.
The adidas Response CL has been a very low-key, but consistent piece of the brand’s lifestyle offerings over the last few years. Built on the midsoles of the Response Cushion from 2003, the model is keeping the brand’s early ’00s performance running aesthetic alive, through plenty of in-line releases and collaborations. This year, the Three Stripes is preparing a trail-ready version of the shoe, coming soon.
The outdoor-ready update for the Response CL makes some minor adjustments to the shoe’s overall design. The outsole has been modified with sharper, more jagged traction, and the upper has lost its more technical detailing in favor or suede and leather overlays. The Response CL Trail will be available in two colors for its launch; a Core Black look with navy blue stripes, and a Cardboard brown with green and blue accents.

adidas’ new trail upgrade for the Response CL has begun to roll out overseas, but does not have a set US release date yet. Arriving in either Core Black or Cardboard colorways for the Cordura pack, pairs will be available from both adidas and select retailers.
