The adidas City Series from the 1980s laid the groundwork for some of the most famous Three Stripes sneakers in the years to come, a project that the Originals team has been celebrating over the past year. This week, the original Valencia trainer is making a return.
The original City Series run from the ’80s is still one of the most celebrated projects in trainer circles, beloved particularly by the European citizens whose cities were subject to receive a signature model. Amongst the many releases centered around Spain, the Valencia stood out for its somewhat unique look amongst the other shoes from the collection, featuring a sleek and subtle cupsole as opposed to the platform-like stature of the others. Combined with a full-grain leather upper and a few suede accents, the Valencia was a hit amongst both the cities’ people as well as adidas heads worldwide. This week’s retro release rebuilds the classic trainer as closely as possible to the original, featuring a navy blue color scheme with baby blue stripes and a bold green midsole.

adidas Originals faithful retro release of the original Valencia trainer has been scheduled for later this week, on April 7th, 2021. The classic City Series sneaker will be available for approximately $120 from both adidas and select retailers like London’s Goodhood, whose raffle remains open until release date.
