adidas Originals’ 2020 City Series Continues with The Velcro Frankfurt

The adidas City Series began in the 1970s, as adidas crafted footwear specific to each city’s terrain and everyday needs. This week, the Originals team is paying a visit to their home country of Germany for the latest release of the “Frankfurt” silhouette.

adidas’ archive of vintage trainers is filled with some of the sneaker world’s most beloved silhouettes, but most remember the range of city-inspired footwear adidas created throughout the late 20th century, particularly in the ’70s and ’80s. This year, adidas is going to be reviving some of the more pivotal pieces from that collection to create a modern-day version, titled City Series MMXX, or 2020. This month’s release takes the form of the “Frankfurt”, another city from the Three Stripes home country of Germany. The new iteration rebuilds the silhouette in beautiful midnight navy blue suede, with metallic silver stripes and adidas branding throughout. This version is also special int hat it removes the typical lacing system, replacing it with three suede straps stretching from the medial to lateral sides of the shoe.
