adidas archives are filled with hundreds of vintage silhouettes just ripe for modernization, and the Originals team is constantly hard at work bringing classics into the modern age. This week, the AS700 gets a makeover, emerging as the new Broomfield trainer.
Vintage adidas trainers are some of the most popular sneakers around the world, but you wouldn’t exactly know it if you’re based in the United States. Most of these retro Three Stripes models were born throughout the ’70s and ’80s, coming up at the same time as the emergence of terrace culture and the United Kingdom’s downright love of football shoes for off the pitch. Among this vast archive of shoes is the AS700, a sleek suede trainer mounted on top of adidas’ EVA cupsole most commonly seen on their skate shoes. Now, the silhouette is back with a new name, the Broomfield, and has launched overseas this week in a sleek new navy blue color scheme. Crafted from premium materials, this pair features a tumbled leather lining and gold foil branding to complete the look.
