adidas is ramping up their Made program, with a new release bringing things stateside this season. In September, the LA Trainer returns in a Made in USA fashion, sporting a sleek “Preloved Ink” color scheme for its debut.
the adidas LA Trainer originally made its debut in 1984. The shoe was designed ahead of the 1984 Olympics, which were hosted in Los Angeles, California. This release is likely in anticipation of the 2028 games, which will once again be hosted in the city of Angels. The model incorporated a unique cushioning technology for the times, which used a system of interchangeable rods in the heels, allowing the wearer to swap different rubber densities in and out for their preferred level of comfort.
This week, adidas unveiled their latest retro of the LA Trainer, coming next week. The model has been on hiatus for a few years now, after making a short comeback in the late 2010s. This new version takes the silhouette to a new level, debuting the brand’s Made in USA program, after recent releases that were crafted in Germany and Italy. The shoe’s return is likely due to the Olympics being hosted in LA again in 2028, meaning a longer series of releases for the iconic shoe. This new look features a “Dark Marine” blue for the mesh underlay, adding overlays in Preloved Ink purple suede. The Three Stripes come in metallic silver, with a pre-aged midsole to complete the look.
