Anthony Edwards’ sophomore signature shoe with adidas, the AE2, is finally here. After debuting early this month, we now have an look at a brand new pair for 2026, which dresses the model in a “Year of the Horse” theme for Lunar New Year.
Each new year, basketball sneaker brands roll out a string of special releases celebrating Lunar New Year, the Asian holiday defined by the lunar calendar. Paired with the Zodiac calendar, each year has a built in special theme of an animal, and next year will be the Year of the Horse. 2025’s snake theme brought plenty of unique sneaker styles decorated with snakeskin materials or colors attributed to specific serpents, so we’re curious to see what brands bring to the table for an equestrian-themed collection.
This week, we have our first look at one of adidas Year of the Horse offerings, featuring Ant Edwards’ new AE2. With the shoe now on shelves with plenty of colorways lined up for the upcoming NBA season, the Three Stripes have bet big on their follow-up to one of the most popular ball shoes this decade. The AE2 brings a special colorway to the table for this release, with the main body of the shoe coming in a mix of cream white and metallic silver finishes. The tongue and inner construction come in a baby blue shade, while gold piping runs around the border separating inner and outer components. The heels feature a special horse logo, while the AE branding on the tongue comes in bright red.
ADIDAS AE2 “YEAR OF THE HORSE” RELEASE INFORMATION
The first special-edition colorway of Anthony Edwards’ adidas AE2 has not been announced officially yet, and is expected to release early in 2026 around the Lunar New Year holiday. The “Year of the Horse” style features cream, silver, blue, and red tones, and will likely be available from both adidas and select retailers. Pricing for this special look is currently unknown.
