Anthony Edwards’ adidas AE1 sneaker is one of the best performance models of the last few years, and one of the coolest new sneakers from adidas in a while. Next year, the shoe is becoming a double threat with a new football cleat version.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards and adidas are still celebrating the massive success of their AE1 sneaker, the guard’s first signature model with the Three Stripes. While the shoe’s second iteration, the AE2 is now expected to debut later this year, the two are still pumping out fresh colors of the fan-favorite model, which performs on both the basketball court and the streets. Next year, the model is adding another item to its resume, this time as a football cleat.
The updated version of the AE1 for the gridiron has already surfaced in a few select official images, giving us a good look at what to expect from the remixed model. While the cleat is not expected to launch to the public until next year, we will likely see NFL players sporting pairs as soon as the season starts. Dressed in the fan-favorite “Stormtrooper” colorway, a simple white and black build, this pair adds neon green adidas logos to the heels, and a Boost window underfoot to show off that bouncy cushioning technology.
