Nike”s Air Max 90 has been busy this year for its 30th-anniversary celebration, releasing in numerous new and original colorways throughout 2020. Now, Nike has unveiled a new weather-resistant upgrade for the Fall, reinforcing the AM90 with Cordura nylon.
The Air Max 90’s anniversary celebration has been a smashing success, to say the least. The classic Nike runner has been rolling out in original colorways all year long, with plenty of new ideas thrown into the mix as well. While the recrafted version of the original silhouette has been a fan-favorite shoe of 2020, Nike has been known to tee up some interesting upgrades during anniversary celebration years, and the AM90 is ready for a fresh take. Cue the Surplus pack, unveiled by the Swoosh earlier this week. Featuring three Fall tonal colorways of the retro runner, the typical mesh and suede upper has been swapped out in favor of more durable Cordura fabrics, prominently featuring a nylon base layer and tongues. The new build also adds a flash of color to the 90’s toe box in the form of a 3M reflective taping, contrasting the base color of each pair. With three shoes in the Air Max 90 Surplus pack, you’ll have your choice of Black, Cargo Khaki, or Desert Tan.

Nike’s latest update to the Air Max 90, the Cordura fabric-constructed Surplus model, has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime this Fall. The upgraded version of the AM90 will come with an elevated price tag of $150, launching from both Nike and select retailers.
