Ye’s Yeezy private label is back in the sneaker news world in the past week. The latest info comes straight from the rapper and designer himself, unveiling a new Yeezy 800 sneaker, coming soon.
adidas officially terminated their long-standing relationship with Ye (Kanye West) back in 2022. The two had released dozens of sneakers together across a wide range of silhouettes, racking up hundreds of millions in sales over their nine year tenure. Since then, Ye has established his own private label, Yeezy, to continue putting out footwear and apparel of his own designs. Apparel from the Yeezy brand has been plentiful, and cheap, but footwear has been more scarce compared to his adidas offerings. Last year delivered both the SL-01 slipper and the BL-01 “Bully” sneaker, both with extremely affordable price tags attached. The Yeezy Slide even got a rerelease, as the design was never fully owned by adidas.
In recent weeks, the Yeezy brand is back in the news, with an out-of-left story about the Slides releasing at retailer JD Sports next week. The drop will include a range of colors for the simple slippers, priced at just $44 each. Now, with that drop on the horizon, Ye has teased a return to full-fledged sneakers with the Yeezy 800 runner. The model’s name has been confirmed, and calls back to the numbering system used in his adidas Yeezy line. The silhouette itself is also a return to older styling, a retro runner-inspired look akin to the incredibly popular Yeezy 700 from 2017. The new model is composed predominantly of mesh across the upper, adding overlays in nubuck to the forefoot and eyestays as well as ballistic nylon panels along the toe and heel of the shoe. Any tech hidden inside is still under wraps, and the new model has only been teased in a triple black colorway.
YEEZY 800 RELEASE INFORMATION
Ye, AKA Kanye West, has not made any announcements in regards to his upcoming sneaker launch, nor the debut of his Yeezy Slides at JD Sports next week, though the new 800 model is likely to arrive later this year, or early in 2027. Unveiled by the rapper and designer himself, the new model builds on the retro runner styling he helped popularize with adidas nearly a decade ago. The model has only been shown in the all-black mesh, ballistic nylon, and nubuck build, and pricing for the silhouette is currently unknown.
