Nike’s Vapor X Posite will finally make its formal debut this Summer, after its first appearance nearly seven years ago. The tennis Foams are set to land in “Copper” and “Metallic Orange” colors in August.
The story behind Nike greatest tennis shoe that never was is a short, but interesting one. The model first appeared online back in 2019, in a Royal Blue colorway. The silhouette immediately caught plenty of attention thanks to its mashup design, which fused a classic Foamposite upper with the midsole of the Tennis division’s Zoom Vapor X, a flagship court model at the time. Sadly, the Vapor Posite came and went without any official acknowledgement from Nike, no announcement, no pros wearing the shoe, nothing. Pairs were later discovered at outlets like Ross for shockingly low price tags. Nike still has not officially announced the model or explained its failure to launch from seven years ago.
However, now the model appears to be getting a real release in 2026. The hybrid sneaker surfaced in a duo of unseen colorways this morning, in the Swoosh’s own official images. Pulling from colors that made the Foamposite so recognizable, the Vapor X will land in “Copper” and “Metallic Orange” styles for its debut. Whether or not they are still ready to wear on a tennis court remains to be seen, but hopefully Nike will outfit one of their athlete partners for a Summer tournament and show us what these puppies are capable of.
