Back in 2015, Don C’s Jordan projects were the pinnacle of sneaker releases. This Summer, Devin Booker is celebrating his luxurious take on the Air Jordan 2 with his Nike Book 2, doused entirely in a Hyper Royal tone.
Don C’s collaborations with Nike and Jordan Brand were ahead of their time. The Chicago designer, a close friend of both Virgil Abloh and Kanye West, first teamed up with the Swoosh for an official project in 2015. Released in January of that year, he reworked the Air Jordan 2 in a striking blue colorway. The release was a tribute to his wife’s Chanel handbag, insisting on a high level quality and attention to detail for his Jumpman debut. The luxury approach to sneakers was somewhat novel at the time, years before brands like Dior, Miu Miu, Margiela, and many more would enter the world of sneakers. The choice of the AJ2 was also not coincidental, the model had been considered the ‘runt’ of the Jordan litter for years, mostly due to its original $100 price tag and Made in Italy construction. This year, Devin Booker is paying tribute to that iconic release from Just Don, drafting a pair of his Nike Book 2 to mimic the Varsity Royal look of the 2015 release. His pair also features a quilted leather upper with suede hits, and releases to the public this Summer.
