Nike’s annual N7 program returns this Summer, supporting Indigenous people across North America with a footwear and apparel capsule that borrows directly from traditional Native colors and patterns. the Gato is the first sneaker seen from this year’s project, coming this June.
Nike’s N7 program is one of the brand’s greatest achievements in outreach and community support. The series started in 2000 under the direction of Sam McCracken, a Nike employee and member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux tribe. The idea was simple; provide Nike products directly to Native American tribes to support health promotion and disease prevention programs. The program eventually evolved into the N7 Fund, which Nike uses to give out grants in support of Indigenous youth sports and physical activity programs across the country. The N7 name comes from the idea that today’s decisions will affect the next seven generations. Over the years, N7 became a yearly release, with each Summer delivering a range of sneakers and apparel designed in collaboration with Native artists, bringing their culture directly to Nike shoes.
This week, we have our first look at one piece of the 2026 N7 collection, the Nike Gato. The shoe is an indoor soccer trainer originally released in 2010, but has seen a resurgence in the last few years thanks to the popularity of slim, low-profile footwear. The new N7 edition brings a ton of new textiles and patterns to the silhouette, including a dense knit forefoot, and traditional Native pattern for the sockliner. Most of the rest of the Gato comes in suede, with shades of burgundy, forest green, and royal blue sharing equal space across the upper.

Nike has not yet formally announced any releases from this year’s N7 collection, though the Gato is currently expected to arrive on June 18th, 2026. The low-top indoor soccer trainer features a range of materials across it’s upper, with shades of red, green, blue, and white making up it’s palette. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $125.
