The Air Jordan 40 made its debut late in Summer 2025, and has only dropped in a small assortment of colorways to date. This week, new pairs paying homage to past Air Jordan models have surfaced, including the AJ23s “Black Stealth” style, coming soon.
2025 marks a monumental year for Jordan brand, with the signature sneaker line turning forty years old. Since the introduction of the Air Jordan 1 in 1985, the line has grown tremendously, evolving into its own brand under the Nike umbrella. Jordan now produces performance footwear for a huge variety of sports, as well as their own retro line of classic styles from the brand’s early days. The mainline Air Jordan basketball shoes still release in yearly iterations, with the AJ40 arriving just a few months ago.
Recently, we had an early look at an upcoming pair of the AJ40 that mimics the original AJ1’s “Chicago” theme. Now, it appears JB is doing an entire line of colorways that celebrate past models from the Air Jordan line, citing both important and classic models from the family tree. Among the new colors we’ve seen today is a flip of the AJ23’s OG “Black Stealth” style. The new pair recreates the original shoe’s lack palette with white grid stitching on the sides, and includes small details down to the single line of red stitching and the icy outsole.

The latest Air Jordan 40 colorway to celebrate a past silhouette has not been announced for release yet, but will likely arrive during the 2025-26 NBA season. Paying homage to the AJ23, one of the most post-playing career Jordan models, the current-gen model adopts the OG “Black Stealth” colorway, complete with the grid pattern. Pairs will likely release from both Nike and Jordan retailers, with a $205 price tag.
