The adidas Ultra Boost is back. After a few years on the back burner, 2015’s shoe of the year is being given a new life. This month, adidas continues the Ultra Boost Consortium Collective with New York’s Kinfolk.
The adidas Consortium label has become synonymous with quality and attention to detail over the years, leading sneakerheads ears to perk up when the exclusive section of the brand is mentioned. With releases like the Consortium World Tour and last year’s Sneaker Exchange, the Three Stripes subdivision has offered up plenty of enticing silhouettes in the past. Now, Consortium has enlisted a string of new partners to help breathe some life back into the Ultra Boost.
This week, adidas has announced that Kinfolk will be their next collaborator in the new series. Based out of New York City, Kinfolk is a well-known bar and lounge mostly utilized as a hangout space. However, they also house a full menswear boutique featuring brands like Needles, adidas, Brain Dead, and Stone Island. This position as an all-encompassing lifestyle brand makes Kinfolk a perfect choice for the Consortium Ultra Boost project.
For their special-edition pair, the new Kinfolk x adidas Ultra Boost begins with a two-tone Primeknit upper. Mixing varying shades of blue with black, the silhouette also features soft nubuck leather overlays on the mudguard and heel cup. Black and blue TPU cages help support the upper, while speckled laces complete the look.
