adidas’ collaboration with HBO’s Game of Thrones is no secret at this point. Pairs have been leaked online for weeks now, though only recently have we received an official look at a few pairs of the bunch. Check adidas Ultra Boost “Stark” & “White Walkers” below.
Collaboration is coming. Earlier this year, the YeezyMafia took to Twitter to announce a frankly shocking, yet welcome collaboration with adidas. Next year, HBO’s smash-hit Game of Thrones will give their take on the several wildly popular adidas footwear silhouettes. This announcement comes as such a surprise because it feels very strange for a TV show of this caliber that hardly makes its own merchandise to be interested in such a high-profile collaboration. However, it is very fitting. Next year, GoT’s eight-season run on HBO is coming to a close, and many fans are agonizing over what will happen to their favorite characters. While the leak of a project from Thrones and adidas doesn’t give us any answers, it certainly gives us something to look forward to as the final season quickly approaches.
This week, both the “White Walker” and “Stark” themed pairs have finally surfaced online in adidas’ official imagery. The special edition Ultra Boost begins with a white Primeknit upper, reinforced with a translucent ice blue tone on the cage, heel counter, and toe box taping. The Ultra Boost cages’ raised stripes are painted black to match the inner lining and leather tongue tab, while a plain white midsole rounds out the colorway. Finally, the Game of Thrones-themed heel tab carries the “Winter is Here” phrase, while the lace aglets read “White Walkers”. Next, the House Stark pair begins with a deep charcoal grey upper, layered with black suede overlays along the heel and toe, as well as a black and grey midfoot cage. The look is completed by a dark grey Boost midsole and “Winter is Coming” heel tab.
While no precise release has been announced for the new adidas x Game of Thrones collaboration, the project is slated to arrive sometime in 2019. Due to the timing of the next and final season, the footwear collection is likely to release either in the early months of the year or in stages in tandem with the show.
