adidas & Donovan Mitchell Tap Marvel to Help Debut the D.O.N. Issue #001

adidas Basketball has a new signature sneaker on the way with Donovan Mitchell, finally living up to everything we expected from their partnership. To help debut the D.O.N. Issue #001, adidas and Marvel have cooked up sever Spider-Man themed colorways.

Donovan Mitchell’s signature basketball shoe with adidas is finally here. When Spida first signed with the Three Stripes, everyone saw it coming. The now 22-year-old point guard for the Utah Jazz was fresh off of a breakout season, and growing more popular with fans by the day, thanks to his upbeat energy and outgoing personality. adidas knew he was going to be big, as we all did. Now, the two are debuting Mitchell’s first-ever signature sneaker through a partnership with Marvel for a string of special-edition releases.

The adidas D.O.N. Issue #001 carries plenty of special meaning for Donovan Mitchell. First, the name D.O.N. represents his long and winding journey to the NBA, meaning Determination Over Negativity. The Issue #001 portion comes from Spida’s love of comics, creating a fun way to create different iterations and versions in the years to come. Finally, the relation to Spider-Man comes from Mitchell’s nickname, as well as his love for the friendly neighborhood hero.

The adidas D.O.N. Issue #001 will debut next week in the initial red & blue “Spider-Man” colorway to celebrate the latest Marvel Studios production, Spider-Man: Far From Home. Then, later in July, the Issue #001 will return in the ‘Symbiote” colorway, mixing the famous dark suit’s black and silver tones with hot pink for an eye-catching look. In August, adidas will debut the “Stealth Spider” colorway of the D.O.N. which references Spidey’s undercover suit through a mix of black and neon green tones. Finally, adidas and Marvel will wrap up their collaborative releases with the “Iron Spider” colorway, painting the shoe to look like the gold & red colored suit created for Spider-Man by none other than Tony Stark, or Iron Man.

adidas Basketball’s latest signature silhouette, created for Donovan Mitchell, will make its debut next week through an adidas exclusive release on July 1st, 2019, followed by the global drop on July 5th. Marvel’s special edition “Spider-Man” colorway will be the first to launch, retailing for $100, followed by their other Spidey-suit inspired looks in the coming week.
