Donovan Mitchell and adidas recently unveiled his signature shoe; the D.O.N. Issue #001. The first Spider-Man inspired release was widely popular as pairs sold out through adidas.com. Now, a second iteration of the popular character is used as inspiration for the latest “Symbiote Spider-man” Release.
While it is evident that Donovan Mitchell encapsulates the Spider-Man character through his signature shoe, it goes deeper than just aesthetics. Paralleling his own views with that of the character, his nickname (Spida) and his Determination Over Negativity motto all play a part into his signature design. With more Spider-Man inspired sneakers to drop in the coming months, the newest D.O.N. Issue #1 “Symbiote Spider-Man” is the perfect follow-up to the first release.
Although the first release focused on the classic Red and Blue color scheme, this iteration emphasizes on the instantly recognizable “Symbiote” theme. Composed of an overall black leather, the upper acts as an ode to the Black Suited Spider-Man seen within the comic-books. The model also incorporates hints of white color that accentuate the sneaker while paralleling the Symbiote Suit. One of the most notable features is the sole; a pink and black color acts as a nod to the “Venomize” version of the Symbiote suit complete with a teeth-like pattern across its heel. A comic-inspired “Issue 1” tag is placed on the lateral side of the silhouette that adds an extra touch to the Spider-Man design.
