English musician Skepta first teamed up with Nike last year to release a Morocco-inspired Air Max 97 Ultra. Now, we have our first look at the pair’s next hit, a combination Skepta’s favorite Air Max sneakers.
Skepta and Nike make a fantastic team. The UK Grime artist has a long personal history with the brand, dating back to his childhood fascination with the then-brand-new Air Max line. After news of a new silhouette from Skepta and Nike earlier this year, MitaSneakers has given us our first look at the pair’s new hybrid sneaker.
The next Skepta x Nike Air Max combines two of the artist’s favorite sneakers, the Air Max 97 and BW. The hybrid shoe takes the upper from the cult-classic BW and places it on top of a standard Air Max 97 sole. There are a few small adjustments to account for the new sole, but nothing major to alter the look. The first colorway will cover the Skepta Air Max 97/BW in all white, with a small flash of color covering the Swooshes. Each shoe in the pair will carry a different colored branding, with blue for the left shoe and red for the right. Other hits of color come on the insoles and Air bubbles, matching the respective shoe’s Swoosh.
The release of Skepta and Nike’s latest Air Max release is just around the corner, and as we inch closer, more details emerge surrounding the release. Previously, we were made aware of a special Nike SNKRS Stash in Paris the Monday before release. The Stash will be accessible only by finding small locks hidden around the city. After the early drop, the Skepta x Nike Air Max BW/97 will drop in extremely limited fashion worldwide the following Friday.

Skepta and Nike’s new collaborative Air Max sneaker will launch globally on May 19th, 2018. Despite a worldwide release, the store list is quite limited, so expect these to move quickly at $180.
