The long-awaited collaboration between Sacai and Nike is finally here. After several whiffed release dates, Nike has made the official announcement themselves, which sees the Sacai Blazer Mid dropping later this month.
The Nike Blazer has been the center of the brand’s attention for the past year or so. While it’s hard to draw a direct correlation, this could have something to do with Virgil Abloh’s Off-White Blazer being the sleeper hit of his Nike “The Ten” project. Since then, the 70s basketball sneaker has reemerged as a classic wardrobe staple, despite the fact that they’ve never even really gone out of style. Now, they’re everywhere, from returning in several OG colorways to the special frog-themed Nike SB release, and even new reinterpretations by notable fashion brands like Sacai.
Sacai’s take on the Nike Blazer mid has been a long time coming. First leaked sometime last year during the brand’s fashion show, fans of both brands have waited an agonizing few seasons for this release, and its finally here. Later this month, Nike is set to release Sacai’s take on the classic Blazer Mid, launching in several colorways. The shoe takes an unusual approach to the design, doubling up on nearly everything from the tongue to the Swoosh, laces, tongue, and midsole taping.

The hybrid silhouettes from Sacai and Nike’s collaborative efforts will hit stores later this month, on May 30th, 2019. The mid-top Blazers will be arriving in at least two unique colorways, with a third possibly on the way. The low-top silhouette will carry a surprising retail price of $140, and release from both partners as well as a variety of select retailers.
