The adidas NMD City Sock was a shocking shoe when it first released, due to the knit upper and laceless construction. Now, the Three Stripes is looking to revive the sleek Boost sneaker with a special “Koi Fish” edition launching next week.

The adidas NMD City Sock was a major hit with sneakerheads when it first released. While the brand began to experiment with a second version, the fans made it clear that the original version was their definitive favorite. Now, the Three Stripes is taking a step backward to rework their original design with a new twist. The latest iteration of the adidas NMD_CS1 takes inspiration from the Koi Fish, using a swooping black stripe over the midfoot to evoke the pattern of the fish, and an embossed Koi Fish on the medial support panel. This leather piece comes in a deep red tone, possibly a nod to the Japanese flag. These details are set against a basic white and grey Primeknit upper, with a matching Boost midsole.
