Nike has had enough of you cutting the plastic bricks off the back of your A Cold Wall x Zoom Vomero+ 5. So, they’re doing the work for you by restoring the OG silhouette to their lineup, beginning with two simple black and white colorways.

Nike has produced so many different silhouettes in its lifetime that it is nearly impossible to keep track of all of them. Obviously, Nike does this themselves in the form of the archives, which they reference quite frequently when reinterpreting an older silhouette. Last year, Nike allowed A Cold Wall creative lead Samuel Ross access to this archive for his Nikelab project. Reaching back to 2010, Ross pulled out the Nike Zoom Vomero+ 5, a somewhat forgotten running shoe, and went to work. His design was practically the same as the original, save for an enormous plastic brick that was attached to each heel for unknown reasons. Most sneakerheads took issue with this addition, and upon receiving their pairs, immediately removed it. Whether this bothered Nike, or they sold enough pairs that a retro became feasible is currently unknown, though it most definitely happening. Later this week, Nike will release the Zoom Vomero+ 5 in all of its original glory from 2010, giving fans of the often forgotten silhouette a simpler and less expensive chance at the retro sneaker.
