Very rarely do sneaker companies release shoes drug references or themes. In 2010, Nike and Todd Bratrud took the plunge with the Nike SB “Skunk Dunk”. Now, the pair is celebrating 4/20 once more with the Nike SB Dunk Mid “White Widow”.

In 2010, Nike was pursuing a company initiative to go green. The same year, a collaboration with artist Todd Bratrud interpreted that goal a little differently. The result was a Quickstrike celebrating the marijuana holiday April 20th, commonly referred to as 420. The original “Skunk Dunk” was a massive hit, still fetching hundreds of dollars on the resale market. Now, the pair are back with another weed-themed Nike SB shoe just in time for the holidaze. The Nike SB Dunk Mid “White Widow” follow the same design features as the original collaboration which covers the entire upper in a thick, shaggy suede. The main body of this “White Widow” comes in pale green, with an off-white hue covering the mudguard, eyelets, heel, and velcro strap that covers the top of the laces. Inside, both insoles are covered with a spider with suspiciously low-hanging red eyes. Fans of the original collaboration have been excited to see Todd Bratrud working with Nike again, and the result is a beautiful SB Dunk Mid. The colors and additional details are an excellent ode to the “White Widow” namesake strain.
