Nike React technology has been a massive hit this year, most notably on the Element 87 silhouette. This week, Nike shared a first look at the next entry in the element series, elevating React Runner Mid ISPA to new heights- literally.

Nike is going to be dealing with their new React technology a lot in the next several years. While the functional new aesthetic has made quite a splash since it’s more casual debut earlier this year, the Swoosh is getting ready to introduce a radical new take based on their “Element” midsole makeup. Titled the React Runner Mid, the new silhouette is one of the first engineered by Nike’s new ISPA division. While this under-the-radar sector has been responsible for many high-profile fashion collaborations of the past few years, they have yet to establish themselves as a household name. However, that changes with the release of the React ISPA.

Standing for Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt, ISPA was created with a very specific purpose; combining footwear with a computational design. This means that instead of working through every inch of the design themselves, the ISPA team is feeding information about the shoe and the sole into a computer, and allowing it to solve problems of strength, support, and flexibility on its own. This indicates that the React Runner Mid will blend lifestyle performance with innovative new upgrades.

NIKE REACT RUNNER MID ISPA

The React Runner Mid ISPA will likely retail for a higher price than comparable models due to its use of React foam technology.
