Mamba Day is right around the corner. The day that celebrates Kobe Bryant’s last NBA game has also become a new calendar event for Nike, the brand behind his shoes. Check out the new Kobe 1 Protro “Mamba Day” dropping this week.

The latest version of the Nike Kobe line to hit shelves is one of the most interesting “retro” shoes ever. Instead of opting for a true retro format of his first Nike shoe, Bryant instead chose to gut the model and fill it with the latest and greatest in Nike Performance technology. With these new upgrades, the Kobe 1 is as ready as ever to compete on an NBA court. The shoe originally launched in a collaboration with Undefeated during All-Star Weekend, and now a new pair has surfaced to be released on Mamba Day. The new all-black colorway adds minimal gold detailing to the Swoosh and Kobe logos for added flare, though still retaining the minimalist look of the shoe. The heel of this pair bears the date “4-13-18”, this year’s Mamba Day. Finally, an image of Kobe from behind is printed on the insoles.
