The Nike Cortez is one of the best casual shoes of all time. First introduced as a running shoe in 1972, the sneaker made waves on the feet of both celebrities and athletes. Now, after the 35th anniversary, the Cortez returns in a new “Cinco de Mayo” look.

The Nike Cortez is back. After an incredibly successful thirty-fifth anniversary in 2017, the casual nylon shoe has released in a handful of incredible colorways. While some were original renditions and others had big Nike ambassadors attached, like the Kendrick Lamar pairs, Nike is still stocking shelves with great colorways. The latest Nike Cortez to hit shelves features the same colors as the flag of Mexico, a perfect release just in time for Cinco de Mayo.

The latest Nike Cortez Basic begins with a plain white nylon upper. The signature toe cap and eyestay come in an off-white faux-suede, matched by the Cortez’s heel counter. Green is added to the Swoosh, heel tab, and Nike Air logo, while a dash of red through the sole completes this Summer-ready Cortez.
