This year, Nike is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the legendary Air Max 98. The shoes were not one of the most popular when they debuted, but with retro styling currently in, Nike is seizing the moment with a new colorway called Kinetic Green.

The Nike Air Max 98 has quite an interesting history. First premiered in 1998, the shoe was the obvious successor to the Air Max line which had only recently added a full-length Air sole. Building off of their latest innovation, Nike built a heavily layered upper to accompany it. The result is perhaps one of the most iconic shoes from the late 90’s, not because of popularity, but because of the style. In a way, the Air Max 98 defines the bright, bulky, and over-branded look of the most nostalgia-inducing decade. So, to introduce a brand new colorway in 2018, Nike took inspiration from the shoe’s origin. The new “Kinetic Green” colorway begins with a platinum base for the upper that is highlighted by layers of a deep navy blue. The tongue and Swoosh branding found around the shoe take on a new soft green hue, additionally highlighted by small hits of pink.
