The Nike Air Max is one of the most popular lines from the Swoosh in their lengthy history. With this year’s Air Max Day already behind us, Nike has unveiled a surprise drop coming this month- a hybrid Air Max 90/1.

Now, Nike is revisiting the hybrid idea for their other shoes, reminiscing on a similar series of sneakers from the early 2000’s. The first silhouette will fuse the Air Max 1 upper with the Air Max 90 sole, for a clean new look sure the please Nike Air collectors. The first colorway to cover the new model uses the Air Max 1’s classic “University Red” color blocking. The upper features a grey base with red running around the sole, as well as a red Swoosh and Nike Air branding on the heel and tongue. The combination Air Max 90/1 is was actually first released in 1992 as a retro version of each sneaker. However, the original run was produced in incredibly low numbers (just a few thousand) so old school Air Max heads will likely be delighted by this wider release.
