Nike’s Air Force 1 has been around almost as long as the brand itself. Originally debuted as a basketball sneaker, the AF1, or Uptown, is ready to launch this Summer in a new nautical-themed collection.
Nike has done an excellent job of keeping up with Ralph Lauren’s recent retro reissues. Beginning with the “Snow Beach” collection earlier this year, the Swoosh has been seemingly accidentally creating perfectly matching sneakers to wear with your hot new Polo. The latest shoes to feature a spot-on color blocking is the new Air Force 1 “Nautical” pack, consisting of one low and one high with a signature sailing-inspired look.
The Air Force 1 High is the jewel of the two-sneaker pack, beginning with an off-white Sail colored leather for the toe, tongue, and lacing system. Next, the center panels of the shoe come in red, while the entirety of the heel is splashed with a deep navy blue. To play into the nautical theme, the strap on this AF1 High is covered in a patchwork of sailing flags. The Air Force 1 Low from the new pack follows a similar design directive, with a slight twist. The upper on the low pair comes dipped entirely in navy blue, with the central paneling taking on the patchwork of flags underneath a white Swoosh.
NIKE AIR FORCE 1 “NAUTICAL” COLLECTION RELEASE INFORMATION
The Nike Air Force 1 “Nautical” pack will launch sometime in Summer 2018. The Air Force 1 Low will retail for $100, while the High iteration comes in just above at $110. Both pairs are expected to release from both Nike and select retailers, though this has yet to be confirmed.
