Nike first debuted a fully-functioning form of their Electronic Auto-Reactive Lacing technology back in 2015. Now, four years later, the next evolution is finally here. Check out the Nike Adapt BB, returning next month in dark grey.

Nike’s auto-lacing technology is finally here. Last month, the Adapt BB officially released, marking the long-awaited wider availability of EARL, the Swoosh’s in-house name for the quick-lacing system first seen in 1989’s Back to the Future II. Based on the initial reactions to the basketball performance shoes across the internet, they are a hit. There were a few hiccups just after the initial launch rendering some Android users’ shoes unlaced, though Nike resolved this quickly and quietly. Now, they’re ready to launch the second colorway of the EARL-equipped Adapt BB. This time around, the mid-top silhouette takes on a much stealthier colorway, covering the knit shroud of the upper as well as the padded heel sections in a dark grey tone. The pair of Swooshes on the outer side are slightly reflective, while just a dash of red on the outsoles and inside the tongue tag add enough color to make this neutral look pop.
