Tinker Hatfield is moving away from his lead role with Jordan Brand. As he announced earlier this year, the designer is investing his talents in new projects and ideas. However, JB will still release some of his original ideas, like this Air Jordan 13 “Tinker”.

The Air Jordan 13 is an easy fan-favorite among sneakerheads. Created by Tinker Hatfield, the shoe was inspired by Michael Jordan’s cat-like movement and reflexes on the court. Using this image, Hatfield modeled the outsole of Jordan’s latest signature shoe after a cat’s paw-print, with holographic logos to represent a feline’s glowing eyes. The Jordan 13 gathered a cult following in the years after its release, a common practice with various JB models.

Now, to celebrate the Air Jordan 13’s twentieth anniversary, the brand has pulled one of Tinker’s original designs from their archives. The Jordan 13 “Tinker” is a surprising departure from the sneaker we are used to. Featuring the same mesh and leather construction for the upper, the revised model shortens the height of the ankle and adds a large strap directly over the midfoot. So far, we have seen this new Tinker 13 in several colorways. The plain black & white pairs were leaked much earlier this year, but now, we have a good look at the full model thanks to shots of the “Bred” colorway from GC911.

The Air Jordan 13 “Tinker” has not yet been scheduled for release, though it is expected to launch sometime later this year. Similar to past Tinker takes, we can expect the new Jordan 13 version to release from both Nike and select retailers.
