The Air Jordan 7 has been around for a long time. First released back in 1992, the silhouette has been an essential piece of the Jordan Brand release lineup ever since. The 7th installment in Michael Jordan’s signature footwear line with Nike was released in plenty of exciting colorways during its heyday, some of which are still released in retro format to this day. However, this year will see something slightly different.
Ray Allen first signed his endorsement contract with Jordan Brand back in 1997. At the time, Michael Jordan was getting ready to move onward from the NBA, and JB needed some fresh blood to keep the legend of Air Jordan alive on the court. Eventually, Mike himself would handpick the five fresh faces to continue his legacy, one of which was Ray Allen. Over the next 12 years, Allen would prove himself to be a worthy successor to Jordan, racking up a long list of achievements including 2 NBA Championships and 10x All-Star, as well as winning a three-point contest. Now, Jordan Brand is honoring the NBA legend with a sleek new black Jordan 7 with purple and green accents as well as his signature prominently featured on the insole.
