The Air Jordan 5 has had dozens of great colorways over the years. However, none are more famous than the OG “Grape” rendition. With the last release years behind us, Jordan Brand has prepared an updated version, titled “Grape Ice”.

The Air Jordan 5 “Grape” is still widely regarded as one of the best looking versions of the V. Originally release in 1990 as one of the original colorways, the black or white shoes with purple and teal accents were some of the sharpest looking sneakers available. Of course, the added incentive of wearing Michael Jordan’s shoes was also a huge plus. This year, Jordan Brand is finally bringing back the legendary Jordan 5, except the latest version will have a new twist.

Today, our friends Py_Rates shared a first look at the upcoming Air Jordan 5 NRG “Grape Ice”, a remixed version of the original. While retaining the same general look as the original, the mock-up shared alongside the early release information gives us a good look at what’s to come. Keeping the simple white leather upper from the original, the new “Grape Ice” look replaces or alters almost every other detail of the shoe. The tongue on the 2018 colorway comes in black with a purple lining, which contrasts the rest of the shoe’s teal inner liner. Furthermore, the midsole has been completely altered. The teeth along the toes are now purple with a black central section, capped by bright teal sections to complete the Grape look.
