The Air Jordan 1 has seen countless iterations and colors since it first released in 1985. This year, Jordan Brand appears to be trying something new with the Air Jordan 1 Zipper.

The Jordan 1 has seen numerous methods of construction, including everything from Ultra variations, to Deconstructed pairs, KO versions, and most recently the Flyknit model, fusing the basketball classic with the best technology Nike has to offer. Yesterday, images appeared online that show an all new Air Jordan 1 with a zipper running down the tongue in place of the laces. While this design is very new for the Jordan 1, it is not a new idea for Nike, who most recently collaborated on the Lebron 15 with Kith’s Ronnie Fieg, adding similar zipper designs to 3 different colorways of the shoe. This iteration of the Jordan however, seems far more toned down than the LeBron release. This Jordan 1 features a jet black upper and gold zipper, along with red Nike Air branding on the side of the tongue. The rest of the shoe appears to be largely unchanged, though it remains to be seen what materials this pair will utilize.
