The Kentucky Derby is likely the biggest annual event to take place in Louisville. Jordan Brand looks to recognize the monumental event and allow horse-racing fans early access to The Air Jordan 1 “Twist”.
Nicknamed the “Shoe of the Derby,” the sneaker is a women’s exclusive that takes on the OG White/Black men’s colorway. Just the colorway alone would make it a huge hit but the rollout is something sneaker fans never saw coming. Jordan Brand looks to link up with the Lexington-based Oneness to transform their normal boutique into a consumer activation hub. Through Friday, May 3rd to Sunday, May 5th, the shop will be taken over by a black and white gallery that features red lighting inspired by the winner’s circle roses. Everyone that attends the event will have the opportunity to purchase the Air Jordan 1 “Twist” a week early.
As stated above, this special pair will be a Women’s exclusive. They take on the iconic colorway of White/Black, a fan favorite among the plethora of colors that have hit the Jordan 1. Combining the retro colorway with a new “Twist”, the black overlays and Nike Swoosh will be composed of a synthetic black material and not the conventional leather. The sneaker then follows the OG pair with the combination of white leather, a white midsole, and a white embossed Wings logo on the collar, all while being finished off with black laces and a black outsole.

If you’re one of the lucky ones in the Kentucky area you can visit the Oneness boutique this weekend to try and pick up a pair early. If you won’t be anywhere around the Kentucky Derby, you don’t have to worry as they will officially release to the general public on May 10th, 2019 at select retailers and Nike.com and will take on the normal retail price of $160. They are expected to be coveted by many so don’t hesitate to buy if you get the opportunity as they will likely be gone fast.
