This week, Jordan Brand held the “Future of Flight” event in Los Angeles, showcasing upcoming Jordan products and discussing the brand’s plans for the future. Among the shoes debuted was a new variation of the Air Jordan 1, the Double Strap.

Certainly not the only new take on the classic Air Jordan 1 for this year, the new two-strapped model may very well be one of the most controversial. This version ditches any sort of traditional lacing, instead rebuilding the paneling on both lateral and medial sides to accommodate two large straps running over the midfoot. The upper is constructed from supple black tumbled leather, giving the shoe a soft premium look. Red Nike Air branding on the tongue helps to light up the silhouette, while the top of the midsole has been extended up to the Swoosh for a very fashion-forward look.
