The epitome of sneakers: since its release in 1985, the Jordan 1 has become a dominant force throughout Nike’s and Jordan’s history. Arguably one of the most recognizable color blocks in all of Nike’s and Jordan Brand’s catalog, the “Bred” colorway returns in historic fashion with an OG High cut reminiscent of its origin.

Contrary to popular belief, the Air Jordan 1 was not the model banned by the NBA; it was Nike’s Air Ship silhouette that holds that historic distinction. The latter shared a strong resemblance to the Jordan 1, and production would not happen until much later, so Michael Jordan donned the Air Ship as a sort of placeholder to the now-historic model. This resulted in much of the public conception to believe that he in fact was wearing the Jordan 1, ultimately adding to the fable and creating one of the most impactful models both on and off the court.

The newest rendition revisits its classic structure and adds a high-cut ankle much like it original predecessor. The 2019 pair also brings back the Black/Red colorway last seen in 2016. Composed of a leather upper, white midsole, and red accented outsole. Rumored to drop during Black Friday, this historic pair is sure to keep fans in anticipation.
